In an official communiqué, the Saudi Arabic Football Federation has denied reports on a lucrative offer for sports director Luís Campos in Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Le Parisien, the Portuguese sports director received a Bumper 10-year-old deal from the Saudi Arab Football Federation, worth € 200 million. His task at the Federation, if he accepts, would be to develop the national team, with a clearly explained objective for Saudi Arabia to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup, which they will organize in 2034. According to Le Parisien, that offer was communicated during a meeting in Geneva last week. The report further states that Campos still has to accept the offer and he has until the end of the calendar year to do this.
Those reports come in the midst of uncertainty about the future of Campos at PSG. Now his contract ends at the end of the season, there are conversations about a renewal, but an agreement has yet to be reached.
The Saudi Arabic Federation has now responded to the report of Le Parisien. “In response to the recent media speculation about negotiations with Luis Campos, currently the technical adviser at Paris Saint-Germain, with a view to his appointment at the head of the Federation, the Saudi Federation states that this information is completely unfounded,” read the statement via L'Equipe.
“The Federation underlines the importance of trusting official sources and establishing direct contact with the institution's communication service to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of information,” added the statement.
