George Hirst van Ipswich was called for the first time to the Scotland team.
The striker, who has represented England to U20 level, is eligible through his grandfather. He is said to be mentioned on Tuesday in the original team of Steve Clarke, but this did not happen due to paperwork. This problem has now been solved.
“George is someone we had in mind for a few months,” said Clarke. “I recently watched him.”
Hirst will join the team at Ipswich Team-Mate goalkeeper Cieran Slicker, who will train in Glasgow on Monday.
Scotland is talking about Greece about two legs in the Nations League play-offs, first on Thursday in Athens and then on Sunday in Hampden. The winner plays at the top of the Nations League.
Unracari -difficult Miller, Wilson in Scotland Squad
Clarke called non-hovered 18-year-olds Lennon Miller and James Wilson in his team for the play-off of this month's Nations League against Greece.
Hearts Striker Wilson had previously made only one performance for young people under the age of 19 and this season scored five goals in 17 Scottish Premiership performances.
The high school student told Sky Sports News in January that he would “like to play for Scotland” – now he has the chance to become the first attacker for the national side since June 2024.
Miller has made more than 65 performances for Motherwell since he had been broken into in the first team and went to Captain the Side, including in their semi -final of the League Cup against Rangers.
The midfielder – who was the youngest player and goal scorer of Motherwell ever – was the subject of failed bids from European clubs in the summer transfer window and also attracted Clarke's attention.
Clarke said: “Of course many injuries, especially in the middle of the forwarding of areas, I just thought it was a chance to take a look in two young boys who have caught the eye for the past 18 months, Lennon in the last 18 months and James in the past six months. Two for the future, but can also just help us.
“I clearly have a better chance of looking at Lennon. He plays with maturity after his years. He is broken by his club, which is a big thing at such a young age. Good characteristics, can play deep in midfield, can play higher in midfield. Good delivery, box to box, good energy.
“I am sure he has a big, big future for him. It is our job to take care of him and try to take him with him. Hopefully this will be the beginning.
“It is similar to James. He is someone who attracts your attention, lags behind, scores goals, which is a great feature. We are always looking for goal scorers. He has a few in premiership this year.
“I actually brought him to one of the camps last year. We briefly had a few bodies and brought a few young boys to the camp. James was one of them and he was aware of a short training session.
“He plays week in, week out. He has a good pace about him, good enthusiasm. Another one that I think it can have a big future, but for now is to get into the team and see how he measures.”
Well -known faces back for Scotland
Lewis Ferguson returns to the team for the first time in a year after an ACL injury that forced him to miss the euros. The last Scotland -performance of the Bologna Captain came in a defeat against Noord -Ierland last March.
Ferguson, 25, has 12 caps and has been set at the Serie A -side since he recovered from his injury.
Celtic – bound Kieran Tierney – who last played in the euro where he sustained a hamstring injury – can also be returned after returning to action in Arsenal, to replace Greg Taylor, who fell in the pecking order in Parkhead.
Kevin Nisbet also returns and was able to earn his first limit since a second half replacement appearance against Georgia in June 2023. The Aberdeen -Spits – which was mentioned in the October Nations League team – scored five goals in his last six games for the Dons.
Elsewhere, Rangers -goalkeeper Liam Kelly and not -covered Max Johnston from Sturm Graz back in the team, such as Robby McCrorie, Ryan Gauld, Lewis Morgan, Connor Barron, Lawrence Shankland Plus Wounded Duo Ben Doak and Lyndon Dykes.
The victory over Greece will keep Scotland in League A of the Nations League, while the defeat would see them falling a division.
