AC Milan legend Joe Jordan thinks Scott McTominay is on his way to becoming one of the best British exports to Italy.
And he accused his former club Manchester United of Blundering by processing him to Napoli last summer for a bargain £ 25 million.
While the Red Devils have fallen past the table without McTominay, the midfielder of Scotland has a title tax in Italy, where his inspiring form has lifted Napoli within three points of leaders Inter Milan.
Tomorrow it will be an enemy enemy collision in the Serie A, with Mctominay and colleague Scotland star Billy Gilmour who takes AC Milan's quartet from the English Kyle Walker, Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori.
Jordan, now 73, was affectionately called Lo Squalo (The Shark) by Milan fans, after completing the top scorer in both seasons in the San Siro and is still worshiped in Italy, for his exploits with AC Milan and Verona.
The fanatic fans of Napoli, however, gave McTominay the ultimate award by calling him MCTomadona – after their idol Diego Maradona.
Now Jordan claims that MCTominay is on track to darken himself and earlier greats such as Denis Law, John Charles, Graeme Souness, Trevor Francis, Ray Wilkins, David Platt and Paul Gascoigne, to become Serie A's greatest Britalian ever.
He said Sunsport: “I would say that Scott McTominay had much more impact in Italy than in my first season.
“He is much more popular than I ever was.
“I was able to get along well with the Milan fans, but it took me a little time to settle on the Italian game. Since his introduction, Napoli supporters have immediately brought to Scott.
“He did exceptionally well, in a team that consistently wins.
“They love him in Naples and I know how the Napolitani are, they are incredible fans, absolutely fanatic about their club and their heroes. In Naples they only support one team and that is Napoli.”
McTominay appeared 178 for the Old Trafford outfit After they had passed their youth academy, scored 19 times and Jordan added: “I was really surprised United Let Scott in the summer.
“I don't know all the circumstances, but I thought he was doing well at United. But at Napoli he raised his game to a different level.
“His form is consistent, his front game is good, he scores goals and offers assists.”
Mctominay, 28, started in Napoli's last 27 Serie A games, and is their second top scorer behind Romelu Lukaku – another United Old Boy – with seven goals and four assists.
Jordan said: “He hit the ground. He is a player who plays with confidence and he works under a good coach in Antonio Conte.
“Napoli did very well to sign him – but Manchester United let him go very badly. The loss of United is Napoli's win.
“He was helped by having Gilmour next to him. When I have seen Billy play for Napoli, he did well and forced himself in the starting team.
“That is no surprise for me because he is a good player, and crucial for an Italian coach, he keeps the ball well.”
Rarely can a struggle for the British have meant so much for Italian supporters, because both clubs urgently need three points to keep their Series A season on the right track.
Milan is currently ninth – five places and six points of a qualifying place for Champions League – and has to win to keep their slim hope alive.
But they also know that they beat Napoli, they almost hand over the Serie A title to their deadly rivals Inter Milan, who could push six points from the Napolitans with eight more games.
In the meantime, Napoli knows that they must maintain the pressure on Inter by beating their Milanese rivals.
Jordan's Hart is with his old club Milan, but his head tells him that the home advantage of Napoli gives their Scots the lead.
He said: “By chance, I actually saw the opposite game in the San Siro in October.
“My daughter lives in Milan with my two grandchildren and when I visit I will watch my old club and occasionally also Verona.
“Unfortunately, Napoli was the better team on the day and earned it to win 2-0.
“They will be favorites to win at home to maintain the pressure on Inter while the two clubs are fighting for the Scudetto.
“Napoli has not won it too often, but with Scott and Billy in the team they have a big chance, provided that she can handle the pressure of the run-in.
“The heat is up to them to win at home. But if you have a team as talented as contes and a passionate home support, Napoli would have to win.”
For once, Jordan hopes that England will be on top of Scotland – thanks to his Rossoneri roots.
He added: “I know Kyle Walker because I coached him in Tottenham, when Harry Redknapp was the manager and we sold him to Manchester City.
“He may be in thirty, but he is a fantastic athlete – some players have pace, some have endurance, but Kyle is blessed with both.
“Kyle is an experienced operator, so he will also pass on a wealth of knowledge to the younger players of Milan from the Italians.
“Tammy Abraham is one of the British of Milan that I used to see in his city days in Bristol, because I have lived in the city for years.
“He is probably on the couch next to Fikayo Tomori who has lost his starting place since he had been held red against Empoli.
“But Ruben Loftus-Cheek did well when he returned to Como when he came from the bank and helped to turn the game around. Forza Milan!”
