Sean O’Malley proved he was the real deal with one-shot viral KO win over former UFC title challenger

Sean O'Malley rose by the ranks despite dealing with a couple of no -sayers.

The former UFC Bantamweight champion gathered a 12-0 MMA record before he tested the first defeat for the first time.

A bizarre foot injury led him to have sustained a TKO loss in August 2020 against Marlon 'Chito' Vera on UFC 252.

Two months earlier, Sean O'Malley earned that fight by putting asleep a former UFC title with one shot.

At the height of his career, Eddie Wineland fought against Interim -Fc Bantamweight champion Renan Barao.

The Brazilian won their fight in September 2013 with a rotating kick and strikes in the second round.

Six years later, Wineland was no longer a title candidate, but he was still seen as a legitimate threat to O'Malley's perfect record.

'Suga' silent his doubters with a ruthless knockout victory over the first round at UFC 250 in June 2020.

O'Malley initially caught Wineland with a short hook that seemed to wiggle him.

A missed rotating attack gave Wineland a moment to recover, but he couldn't do this.

The next Big Punch O'Malley threw him straight on the chin and resulted in a scary KO.

What is the next step for Sean O'Malley?

Sean O'Malley has not fought anymore since he lost his Bantamweight title on UFC 306 last September.

Merab Dvalishvili easily placed him in five rounds before he defended his belt against Umar Nurmagomedov, which he hit in the Co-Main event at the UFC 311 in January.

Despite the one -sided nature of their first affair, UFC CEO Dana White has booked the Rematch.

Dvalishvili vs O'Malley 2 will take UFC 316, which takes place in Newark, New Jersey, on 7 June.

O'Malley has promised to be '70 percent better' in the Rematch, but only time will it learn whether he will be able to deliver a winner-like performance against one of the largest 135 pounds of all time fighters.
