Sean O’Malley reunites with Snoop Dogg after rap legend’s commentary helped kick start his UFC career

UFC star Sean O'Malley and Snoop Dogg reunited while both attended UFC 310 in Las Vegas this past weekend.

Sean O'Malley and Snoop Dogg follow different paths in life and their respective careers. But their paths crossed seven years ago when O'Malley fought for a shot at a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series.

Before O'Malley became one of the biggest stars in the UFC, he had to fight and claw for a chance in the UFC spotlight with Dana White's cage side. He faced Alfred Khashakyan on DWCS in 2017 and finished Khashakyan in the first round with a one-punch knockout.

Backstage, Snoop Dogg provided commentary alongside UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber for the 'Snoopcast' simulcast. When O'Malley got the knockout, Snoop Dogg's hilarious reaction to O'Malley's win went wild online.

O'Malley's win, along with spirited support from Snoop Dogg, made him a household name before he made his promotional debut. Seven years later, O'Malley is one of the biggest draws in the UFC, and Snoop Dogg is a major part of his fame.

Sean O'Malley and Snoop Dogg are enshrined in UFC lore

While both attended UFC 310 in Las Vegas last weekend, O'Malley and Snoop Dogg met backstage and shared a friendly dialogue. O'Malley caught their entire interaction on his YouTube channel, which you can watch below.

O'Malley is looking to get back on track in the Octagon after a loss to Merab Dvalishvili for the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 306. He is targeting a return in early 2025 against the winner of Dvalishvili vs. Umar Nurmagomedov.

Dvalishvili and Nurmagomedov will co-headline at UFC 311 next month, ahead of the lightweight main event between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan. O'Malley will likely earn another shot at the title upon his return.

Snoop Dogg is an avid UFC and combat sports fan and has attended several high-profile cards this year. He also trains in boxing and his children have proven to be top athletes.

Just one fight into his UFC tenure, O'Malley was boosted to UFC pay-per-view cards, thanks in part to Snoop Dogg's fandom and his vintage knockout power. He won his first four UFC appearances before suffering a TKO loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 252.

After a six-fight undefeated streak, O'Malley climbed the bantamweight mountain by finishing Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title at UFC 292. He would then successfully defend the title against Vera before suffering defeat to Dvalishvili.

O'Malley believes he was robbed on the judges' scorecards at UFC 306, despite the majority of fans thinking Dvalishvili deserved the win. If Dvalishvili wins at UFC 311, O'Malley will have a chance to prove that perhaps UFC 306 was a fluke.

When O'Malley returns to the cage, Snoop Dogg may be there to see the fighter he helped blossom. While O'Malley's performance speaks for itself, Snoop Dogg had a hand in catapulting him into the spotlight.
