Former UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland received a surprising defense of a former fan favorite after his main performance at UFC 312.

Although Strickland had a number of positive moments early at the start of the fight, he struggled to release a consistent activity level, so Du Plessis was given the Scorecards of all three scorecards decisively.

After the second loss of Strickland for Du Plessis, many of his opponents were fully in force who criticized his performance after a slugfest promised before UFC 312. One of them was UFC analyst Din Thomas, who went so far to say he ” Felt cheated by Strickland's show after his promises pre-event.

Matt Brown defends Sean Strickland in the midst of Post-Puc 312 criticism

During a recent episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer weighed Matt Brown on the hatred aimed at Strickland after UFC 312.

“Many people chase Sean because they don't” fight for death “or war or whatever,” said Brown about Strickland. “What I want to know is when we started listening to what fighters say? In particular what Sean Strickland says?

“He is a clearly good hunter, an elite hunter. What he did, brought him where he is. Why would you suddenly change it and why would we expect that he will suddenly change that in the fifth round or fourth or whatever? This is what he does. This is who he is. (H/T MMA Fighting)

Brown then set a possible reason for the harsh criticism of the style of Strickland.

“We know what he will do when he goes in and fights,” Brown continued. “It is a safe style and it is a good style to win fights during decisions. Again, this is what the UFC has done – I have often talked about this – what they have done better than every sport in history is that they have increased the personalities of those who have competed. We buy completely here and we love it. That is what the UFC marks. “

Sean Strickland is located in a special position in the photo of the middleweight title

After having suffered two title losses on Du Plessis during his last three fights, Strickland is firmly on the outside of the title mix, unless a new title holder takes the throne. Unbelved UFC Middleweight Khamzat Chimaev is expected to get the following title shot after completing Robert Whittaker at UFC 308.

Strickland earned the Rematch with Du Plessis after beating Paulo Costa on UFC 302 last year. In his lonely middleweight title defense, Strickland fell to Du Plessis due to a split decision in their first fight on UFC 297.

Du Plessis wants to see Strickland running back with another former rival before his return fight after UFC 312. After having a broken nose on UFC 312, it is uncertain when Strickland returns to the Octagon.

In the meantime, Strickland continues to feel the heat after his slow performance at UFC 312, but Brown believes that the criticism is undeserved.
