Coach Eric Nicksick indicates his time in the corner of Sean Strickland can put an end
During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani show, Nicksick asked his turns with Strickland after UFC 312.
“I think (Strickland) should evaluate what he wants to do in the sport,” Nicksick said about Strickland. “If it only earns money, that's great. Let us know. I want to coach world champions. My motivations are different. Just to appear a kind of appearance and to do that and not really supporting it, was just a little not inspiring for me.
“It was just uninspired fighting for me. It seemed that (strickland) was sleeping. It was tough, man, “Nicksick continued. “To travel completely (to Australia) – and let's not forget, this is a title fight … I take these title fights very seriously. I was just disappointed, man. (H/T MManceews)
At the moment Strickland did not respond to Nicksick's comments. Later in the interview, Nicksick wondered if he sees himself or not coaching Strickland.
“I think that is an honest assessment that I would have to sit with Sean and talk to him about it,” said Nicksick. 'Where can my services help you? I think as a coach you get the honor for things that you essentially don't do that much, and you get the blame for things you do. So you have to be there in the middle …
“In such situations where you can change motivations, if that is the case if they have turned into something else. Fighting for money or a salary, and it is not the best or a world champion, I think we should sit as a coach and hunter and have that conversation. He is a great teammate, great guy … but your fighting is not to be the best in the world and they are for money, that's not really what I'm looking for. “
The UFC 312 performance of Sean Strickland attracted criticism from all corners of MMA
Nicksick revealed that the performance of Strickland Perplex UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira, who was in his corner for UFC 312 and had previously beaten him in their career.
