It is the day before the final of the European Championship and although some players and employees explore Bratislava for the last time, Lee Carsley is in the Sheraton Hotel on the Water that inspects a list.
In particular, it is a list of players who are eligible for the under-21s on the euro of 2027 in Albania.
Carsley, a man who likes to continue quickly, wants to see England stay ahead of their rivals. He only expects to release a few days.
“The most important thing is that the under-21s continue to win and continue to produce players for the senior team together with the 17s and the 19S,” he said.
'We spoke a lot about leaving the shirt in a position where you could go for three. I definitely look forward to it and it is a great target to go for. '
Planning is important for Carsley. Preparations for this second consecutive victory of the euro were disturbed by an interim spell in which he led the senior team, together with great absent because of the club world cup that changed dramatically how this side would function.
Liam Delap, Rico Lewis, Jobe Bellingham and Jamie Gittens all went to the World Cup club. Adam Wharton, Jarrad Branthwaite and Taylor Harwood-Bellis missed due to injury. All seven were considered starters.
But enjoying the moment is also important for the boss of England, even more after a whirlwind for two years on a personal level. That was his message to players before the start in the final – that this is only a moment in time that will have disappeared in an instant. It must be cherished.
By the time they landed back in Birmingham after a 4 -hour flight – it was pushed back by Team Ops when the game went to extra time – there had been a party in the hotel with friends and family. Much Czech Pilsner -Beer was knocked down and Jack Hinshelwood from Brighton proved the life and soul of the party.
The Sheraton Hotel along the Danube River in Bratislava was the basis of England throughout the tournament. It was at the home-working distance of Dunajska Streda and Nitra, where they played group games, and finishing second place in group B meant that she avoided a five-plus hour trip to the east to the city of Kosice.
It also meant that they could change something from the hotel near a house for the players and the staff.
A golf simulator was available for players, a table tennis setup and a dartboard. A private hairdresser was flown to enable players to get new decorations for competitions.
England took over a whole floor and three lion fires decorated different walls of meeting rooms while the staff went above and outside with important messages.
Carsley and his staff wanted to give this English group enough rope to relax and every day players would go out in bunches together for a few hours to explore.
Tino Livramento enjoyed waving the city on lime bikes, while the third choice -goalkeeper Tommy Simkin was a fixture on a nearby Padel Court.
Omari Hutchinson and Ethan Nwaneri were very close to the tournament, in combination with training and also hanging around the field. Team sources spoke about the competitiveness of the couple in every aspect of their days, to the point when all the activities they maintained that they held the score.
When it comes to competitions, Hutchinson's razor -sharp performance, which includes a goal in the final, can be partially set at the high levels that Nwaneri helped him.
Many of the players explored the shopping center that was connected to the hotel – including high -end shops and a cinema – most days, while restaurants on the water were popular places to relax. Wagamamas became the go-to-place for players to keep team-binding lunches.
The Asian restaurant became such a hit for players during this camp that the team chef tried to replicate the stunner sauce of the restaurant for them.
Many of these players had never played together or had done this incredibly often in a cycle under 21 that so many players have seen in and out.
Team sources hated to choose important individuals, but spoke about the importance of Cameradschap that was powered by Captain James Mcatee, who would often be seen in the hotel with a speaker who expressed Oasis.
Others praised Jonathan Rowe – the match winner in the final against Germany – for his 'infectious' personality, especially when he lost his start spot after the group's phase. Ronnie Edwards, the only Outfield player who did not get a minute Action All Tournament, was Carsley's unjail hero of all this.
One of the greatest successes that came from the tournament was the development of Ashley Cole as a coach.
Cole leads the debriefs after the competition carsley is preferable to look ahead, not back and senior FA sources greeted the importance of the former Arsenal and Chelsea that is left behind in helping back-to-back titles.
Mail Sport was told that Cole proved to be very motivating for players during the tournament and in the days prior to the final, he held the court with players who came to ask armed with tons.
Who is better, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? That was one.
Cole is meticulous and his work with the defenders, especially on full back where Tino Livramento and Jack Hinshelwood both produced huge displays at crucial times on a bumpy route to the final, turned out to be integral.
In the last Cole it was roaring of instructions at Hinshelwood and he received a response from the Brighton man. One Fa -Bron even mused that this tournament believes them more that Cole will eventually have a chance to have a NR. 1 to be.
Together with Cole, Carsley was meticulously with his training and the basis that they set up on Samorin, a 30 -minute ride outside of Bratislava, became a home from home.
It was decided that players would train during the most popular periods of the day to emphasize that they are ready for playing in 30 degrees plus temperatures, which they did twice on their way to victory. After that many players could be seen, sunbathing to relax.
Training was also fluent. One day there was a game of Dodgeball, while the next day it might be a tag game at the start of the session. On the very first day they invited from 180 local children to have a kick-over on the field with players. The Carsley employees wanted things that didn't grow old.
But what told during this incredible run was the attention to detail. Even apparently small factors such as body language came into play. Jarrell Quansah is said to have benefited from this. He became visibly more dominant and confident in games as the tournament progressed.
All the while Thomas Tuchel called from the United States and looked at every game. Tuchel sent messages from support to Carsley and was informed on the team by FA Technical Director John McDermott before he flew through the night to be present for the final.
After England had brought down his motherland, Tuchel was 'dizzy' when he bounced into the dressing room.
“He was happy for everyone,” Carsley told E -mail Sport.
'Solid hugs when everyone came through the door. So enthusiastic, as Anthony was [Barry]And I am sure that they are both also jet-lag, but the fact that they are here, and the support we had earlier and during the tournament was greatly appreciated. '
There were so many keys for the back-to-back of England, giving players the freedom to build relationships, tactical flexibility that even Center CJ EGAN-VRIEY saw that he got his few minutes of the tournament as a center forward in the final and man management that was unparalleled.
A senior camp for a world cup is naturally different, but Tuchel can be much worse than the brain of Carsley for the next summer.
With two completely different squadrons, disturbed preparations and burning temperatures, Carsley found the formula … Even if he and the players forgot to take the trophy with them when they left the stadium.
