The long -awaited return from Barcelona to the Spotify Camp Nou remains dressed in uncertainty, while deadlines approach for both La Liga and the Champions League. The Blaugrana have agreed to play their first three games of the season away from home with La Liga, but now only have nine days to secure an essential license to reopen the ground.
The Blaugrana hope to secure the license of the Barcelona city council to reopen Camp Nou with a presence of 27,000 fans initially, before it eventually increases to 60,000 fans in the coming months. However, Barcelona has suffered a setback.
To grant the Barcelona council their permit, the Catalan giants must submit an end to the building certificate. However, RAC1 has shown that the club asked a new meeting with the council to arrange a new date to deliver that certificate after they admitted that they would not have it today, as was initially projected. Their information is that the certificate does not arrive before the end of the month, but their plan is still to organize Barcelona's home game against Valencia on September 14.
The resason is that the areas with regard to the stands and the South goals have shown that they have shortcomings with regard to the safety of the stadium, which would keep a professional competition on site. Other areas of the land also need further improvement.
It also has doubts about Barcelona's ability to organize Champions League matches in Camp Nou. The club has until 28 August to communicate with UEFA whether they can organize games there under UEFA conditions, when the draw is made. If they cannot obtain the council permit before that date, they can be forced to return to Montjuic for European collisions, an important financial setback for the Blaugrana.
