Nelson Semedo has called on Wolves to end the task of securing their Premier League status for a different season, prior to the huge collision of Saturday with Ipswich Town.
Wolves continued their revival on Tuesday with a 1-0 home victory in West Ham, while the bent strike by Jorgen Strand Larsen brought them 12 points from the relegation zone.
However, that gorge was reduced a day later to nine points, because Nathan Broadhead and Liam Delap Ippswich goals fired for a 2-1 victory in Bournemouth.
But wolves remain favorites to prevent relegation, and they have now earned 20 points from 14 Premier League matches under Vitor Pereira, who took over the resignation of Gary O'Neil in mid-December.
When O'Neil was fired in the aftermath of a dramatic 2-1 defeat at home in Ipswich, Wolves 19e were in the table with only nine points from 16 games, five drift of safety.
Asked where he put the improvement of Wolves on, Semedo told the media channels of the club: “It is the solidarity we have, the support we give each other, and the way we leave everything on the field, especially in the last few games.
“Since the Vitor arrived, I think we had a big change, clearly better. Now we have to keep that going.”
Wolves have won six of their last eight Premier League matches against promoted parties (one draw, one defeat) and defeated both Leicester and Southampton during the Pereira reign.
Semedo knows that next time they have the opportunity to give a knock -out blow to a rival and say: “I think the message is that we should go there and make an explanation.
“We know that this week is important, now we have to end this week. We have to go to that next game with everything.
“We have a job to complete. We need the fans as usual, and we will ensure that we leave our lives, our hearts, on the field to bring three points home.”
The tractor boys gave themselves a spark of hope with their midweek victory, but Kieran McKenna refused to describe their next game as a “must-win”.
“Let's say it's a big, big game, there are not two ways,” he said. “We will come back now, recover well and ensure that we feel like it.”
Players to watch
Ipswich Town – Jack Clarke
Clarke has helped a goal with each of his last two Premier League performances on Portman Road, although he still has to end on the winning side in one of his 12 home games in the competition (four draw, eight losses).
That is the joint of every player in the Premier League history, together with Onel Hernandez (three draws, nine defeats in 2019-2020 for Norwich City).
Wolves – Joao Gomes
Gomes wrote a new long -term contract with Wolves in Midweek and then celebrated that deal with a leading role against West Ham.
He is in fourth place in the Premier League for attempted tackles (87) and won this season (51), and fifth for total disputed duels (335). In what should be a fiery affair, the Brazilian international will take on Ipswich.
Match -Forecast: Draw
After their 2-1 win over Molineux in December, Ipswich wants to complete their first competition doubles on Wolves since 1991-92, and their first in the top flight since 1983-84.
Wolves ended at the bottom of the old first division and were banned in that last season, while the tractor boys were comfortable in 12th place.
But the men of Pereira have gathered 13 points in the Premier League since the beginning of February, with four wins, one draw and two defeats.
They also won their last two on the road in the competition – against Bournemouth and Southampton.
Those are more victories than they walked in their previous 19 road trips (five draws, 12 defeats), and they last won more in a row between December 2021 and February 2022 (four right under Bruno Lage).
Their recent revival means that the responsibility on Ipswich is to attack on Saturday, because the tractor boys try to prevent them from losing six consecutive league matches on Portman Road for the second time, earlier in 1963.
The 10 home reports of Ipswich in the Premier League this season are their most in every campaign, because they also lose 10 in the championship in 2010-11. The formile suggests that wolves can make it here 11, although Opta's supercomputer predicts a sleek encounter.
