Sergio Ramos off the mark in his second outing for Monterrey

The Spanish defender was a goal in the 4-2 victory of the team against Santos -a trademark head, typical of his Real Madrid days.

The decision to sign Sergio Ramos seems to be bearing fruit for Monterrey. The Spanish defender, who made his debut against Atlético San Luis last week, scored his first goal for his new club in his second performance.

Ramos and Canales combine against Santos

The 38-year-old was again in the starting line-up when Rayados organized Santos Laguna on Sunday. His moment arrived at 57 minutes – Ramos came racing in the box to meet a deep cross and plant a dull head along Carlos Acevedo. His first goal for his new club brought back memories of his golden days in Real Madrid – and it was his old Madrid teammate Sergio Canales who supplied the cross.

His celebration was equally memorable, with Estadio BBVA who fluctuated in the core, just as it had two weeks ago. The captain sprinted to the corner spot, tongue out and his hand cuped his right ear and finished it with a victory slider and a Huddle with the rest of the team.

After more than nine months without competitive football, Ramos is back, making his presence felt quickly and decisively in the Liga MX.
