Real Madrid legend Luka Modric stands for what his last match or his penultimate match for Los Blancos is Wednesday evening, while they are taking on Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final of the Club World Cup. The 39-year-old had held to announce his next stop, but it has now been made public.
The Croatian midfielder got an emotional farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu in May in the last game of the season, alongside Carlo Ancelotti. The veteran was a starter until his last two seasons in the club and will go down as perhaps the best to ever do it in the middle of the field for Real Madrid. His next step will be to AC Milan, where he will sign a new one -year contract, with an option to add an extra season.
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has now confirmed that Modric will sign Modric this summer, as soon as his tasks with Real Madrid are completed. Modric's contract was extended to the end of the tournament, but he will then be a free agent.
“We are waiting for Luka Modric. He will arrive in August. He is an important, extraordinary player. He does not need an introduction,” Allegri explained to Marca.
“In midfield we have him, Ricci, Loftus-Cheek-Die I think he could be very important, and now Musah. We will play with three midfielders, and we will adjust our formation based on the characteristics of the players,” he continued on the day of his presentation.
