Sesko transfer twist as United and Newcastle learn separate deal isn’t happening

Manchester United and Newcastle United have both chased Benjamin Sesko, but a movement that could have thwarted a transfer is now seen as of the cards

The hope of Manchester United and Newcastle United to sign Benjamin Sesko received a boost because his RB Leipzig teammate Lois Openda will not make a switch to Sunderland. The Red Devils and the Magpies have been on the heels of Sesko in recent weeks.

In the midst of these rumors, it was often suggested that RB Leipzig's Openda – who had previously been linked to United – was on the radar of the black cats. As a colleague attacker, if Sunderland had succeeded in securing the services of Openda, this would have made the task of signing Sesko even more challenging.

Leipzig would probably be reluctant to let go of both strikers in August. In a positive turn of events for the side of United and Eddie Howe, however, Openda will not become a member of Sunderland. The newly promoted side is supposed to be not interested in the Belgian.

Sky Sports have confirmed that the black cats, who have been busy in the transfer window, will not make an approach for Openda. Because he stayed, the side of Ole Werner will certainly be more open to offers for Sesko.

Newcastle was the first to make a movement for the striker, making an offer, just shy of £ 70 million, as reported by the chronicle. This offer was quickly rejected by Leipzig, who hopes for a bidding war between interested clubs.

The Slovenian yielded an impressive 22 goals in all competitions last season and is praised as one of the most promising talents in Europe. Recent reports from Slovenia have suggested that Sesko went to a Newcastle switch, but it seems that he still weighs his options.

United has missed this window various goals, in which Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike opt for movements to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool respectively. Despite these setbacks, Ruben Amorim has strengthened his attack by securing the services of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

It is generally known that Amorim is looking for a Center-Forward to Leiden's line in Leiden. The last term was United's lean trek of 44 Premier League goals only better than Everton and the degraded trio of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton.

On the departure front, United Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho wants to load, who have already lent Marcus Rashford to Barcelona. Rasmus Hojlund from United, on the other hand, is determined to sit and fight for his place in the team.

Despite a few flashes of sparkle, the performance of the Danish attacker did not fully meet expectations since his £ 72 million in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta moved from Atalanta. Hojlund said: “I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to keep fighting for my place, whatever happens. Competition is fine with me, it sharpens me.

“I am more than ready. I feel sharp, so I welcome everything that comes. I think it is good with the competition and it only sharpens the team.

“I am still very young. I think people sometimes forget that. I am only 22. Of course, not every striker at the age of 22 scores 100 goals. But I have learned a lot, I think you can see in my game.”

United was held on Sunday at a 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League Summer Series in The Pond in America. Amorim's men took the lead on two separate occasions thanks to strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount, but the Merseysiders fought back every time by Iliman Ndiaye and an unfortunate goal of Ayden Heaven. Their next game is at home at Fiorentina on Saturday.
