A former Prime Minister League chairman has encouraged Benjamin Sesko to sign for Newcastle United about Ruben Amorim's Manchester United, despite the fact that he has reservations in the past
Simon Jordan has told Benjamin Sesko to go to St James' Park over Old Trafford, stating that the RB Leipzig striker will have “less control” play under Eddie Howe than Ruben Amorim. The former chairman of the Crystal Palace admits that he had “reservations in the past” about the Newcastle manager, but he now believes that the winners of the Carabao Cup are the right team for Sesko to thrive.
Newcastle and Manchester United are locked up in a transfer fight to sign the 22-year-old. The two parties have submitted large bids to bring Sesko to their respective clubs.
The magpies first made a rejected offer before they returned with an improved proposal worth £ 70 million plus add-ons. The Red Devils, however, have made an offer of their own value worth £ 65.1 million plus another £ 8.7 million in add-ons, and a definitive decision by the Slovenian international seems to be responsible.
Jordan appeared on Talksport to discuss Sesko's choice and admitted that if money was not a problem, Newcastle should be his most important destination.
“If I was in his shoes, if the economy of the deal was that I was not financially compromised by going to Newcastle about Manchester United, I think it is a great step,” Jordan said before he started discussing the former Bournemouth.
“I think Eddie Howe is a brilliant manager – I have had my reservations about him in the past – I have already had conversations. I really like him and I think he has done a brilliant task.
“So I would look at Newcastle instead of Man United.”
Jordan also noticed that everything that Sesko does would be viewed under a microscope while playing under Amorim at United, while he would have more freedom to grow while he developed under Howe. Jordan added: “I think because Newcastle comes with expectations, but does not come up with the same pressure where Man United comes from.
“Although people are concentrating on Newcastle, they focus on it because Newcastle makes a lot of noise because it is a very passionate football club and the fans are very motivated by it. It does not have the daily control that man has united.
“It doesn't matter what happens, you can leave a fart in the course of Man United – that is heard all over the world. It is not the same with Newcastle.”
It is said that United is convinced that Sesko will go to the northwest of England to add to their attacking line, after he has already received the signatures of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and former wolves this summer.
Sesko, however, is considered a side -and -ready replacement in Newcastle for Alexander Isak, whose form understandably attracted the attention of Premier League champions Liverpool. The Reds have already made an £ 110 million offer for the Swede – which has been rejected – but Howe looks destined to sell the Wantaway star as the Magpies First Land Sesko.
The Red Devils are in another period of transition. In November 2024 they appointed former sporting CP -Baas Amorim to help the club back in the European places of the Premier League, but another disappointing campaign last season she finally saw in the 15th and without a trophy.
In the meantime, Newcastle is aware after securing their first piece of silverware in 70 years in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. They ended in the Premier League last year and will participate again in the Champions League this season.
In the meantime, United will be this campaign without European football after losing the Europa League Final 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
All these things can very well take Sesko's decision to choose black -white or Manchester Red, with both sets of fans who eagerly wait to see his choice soon.
