Pablo Barrios' stop-time winner helped to close Atletico Madrid the gorge to the top two in Laliga after a 2-1 win away to Seville.
The side of Diego Simeone benefited from the results of Saturday after leaders Barcelona were held by Real Betis, while Real Madrid was stunned by Valencia.
Atletico is now seven points behind Barcelona in the rankings, with their victory on Sunday also a six-match Winless Streak about all competitions.
Sevilla opened the score in the seventh minute due to the fine finish of Lucien Agoume from outside the box and completed a quick counterattack by the Garcia Pimienta team.
