Sevilla to test Aston Villa’s transfer resolve on Dutch starlet

Sevilla has a permanent need for squadron reinforcements for the 2025/26 season while they continue to fight for European qualification.

The Andalucians need a strong end of the campaign to force themselves in the top seven, but that is the task of Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta.

While Pimienta focuses on matters on the field, sports director Victor Orta is already working on summer transfers, with midfield an important area of attention.

A lack of new faces in midfield caused frustration at the start of the current campaign and ORTA would like to avoid a repeat.

Sevilla is not expected to activate their € 12 million purchase clause on Albert Sambi Lokonga, unless Arsenal offers them a reduced deal, so other goals have emerged.

According to reports from Estadio Deportivo, the Dutch U21 International Lamare Bogarde is now on the radar, despite its limited playing time in Villa Park.

The name of Bogarde was mentioned in January, as part of a possible deal for Loic Bade to move to Birmingham, but that did not come true.

The 21-year-old does not seem to be in Unai Emery's first team plans for 2025, with his contract expiring in 2026, and this summer is the likely last chance to bring a transfer costs of approximately € 5 million.

Bogarde addressed the rumors after his debut for the Dutch U21 side earlier this week-where he was sent in a 2-1 victory over Italy and he indicated that a decision with Ajax that is also interested in his services.

“It is fantastic that a big club like Ajax is interested in you. But I still have a contract with Aston Villa. More information about my future will soon be revealed,” he said in an interview with Dutch media.

“At the moment I am happy in my club and together we will make a decision about the future. We will see what is happening.”
