Former Arsenal star Kristoffer Olsson has agreed to terminate his Midtjylland contract after he has diagnosed a rare brain disorder.
The 29-year-old has not played football anymore since the suffering of blood clots in February last year on his brain, for which Intensive Care was needed in the hospital.
He was rushed to the hospital after he had lost consciousness at his house and eventually diagnosed an inflammation of the cerebral blood vessels.
Olsson has built its fitness level in the past year and is now looking for a complete return to the field.
But to do this, the midfielder has decided to leave Midtjylland and return to Norroping, his hometown, to be closer to his family.
He will become a member of his local club, IFK Norroping, in an attempt to regularly get first team Football.
During the departure of Olsson, Midtjylland's deputy football director, Kristian Bach Bak, said: “Kristoffer has been a fantastic football player from the first day and an equally great person outside the field.
“Before the disease, he was an important part of our team – with his eye for the game, his technical quality and his way of bringing people together.
“He helped us like a club and we are proud of having him at FC Midtjylland.”
In the meantime, football director Peter Sand added: “We will never forget the speech he has given before one of the crucial matches.

“It was a powerful and uniting moment that is still clear to both players and staff.
“He had not been to the field for months, but he found the power to contribute to the team and to give something of himself. It says everything about him as a person.”
Olsson received an emotional broadcast during the home game of Midtjylland against Brondby on Sunday.
The midfielder said: “When I look back on my time at Midtjylland, I feel first and foremost great gratitude.
“I have been here several times and every time I met with warmth, care and respect.
“When I was struck by the disease, it felt unfair – but I'm glad I was here, where people knew me and understood who I was.
“The club, the people, everyone around me – they were there from the first second. I will be grateful for that for the rest of my life.
“FC Midtjylland is not just a football club, it's a place that takes care of people.
“First and foremost, I still dream of becoming a football player. To be able to fully train and feel that I am contributing to a team.
“Every week I feel progress, and I am more hungry and motivated than ever. I have the chance to do it at home in Norroping, close to my family and friends, means a lot. The feeling is just right.”
Olsson's career
Olsson spent three years in Arsenal between 2011 and 2014, but only made one senior performance.
He then spent three years at Midtjylland before returning to the club in 2023.
Between his two spells with the Danish side, he spent time in Sweden, Russia and Belgium.
The 29-year-old won two superliga titles with Midtjylland and a competition title with AIK.
