Diego Simeone said that he and Atletico Madrid can do nothing more than taking things game-by game in their pursuit of the LaLala title this season.
The Simeone team is third in the table with five games of their season, 10 points drift from leaders Barcelona and six behind the second rivals Real Madrid.
The inconsistency of Atletico has seen them fall further behind their title Rivals, with a trip to the Estadio de Mendizorroza to get up the 17th placed Alaves afterwards.
The Colchoneros also won only two of their last seven Laliga Away matches (D2 L3), which lost the last in January 2024 (L4) in the competition of him.
“We have to finish Game-by game in the best way,” Simeone told reporters.
“Barcelona and Real Madrid are in an important position to compete with each other and to have a direct duel. We will do our thing.
“We have to think about improving. Alaves are doing very well in recent days, with a good rhythm of game, a coach with clear ideas, as in all his teams.”
The supercomputer is of the opinion that the gap is too large for Atletico to make up for their remaining games, so that Barcelona prefer 87% of their data -led simulations to lift the title.
Although Atletico once lost at home this season, they struggled with the Spaniards, with the location of this weekend a difficult to visit in recent years.
After unbeaten in six consecutive road races in LaLiga between 2006 and 2021 (W4 D2), Atletico lost their last two games at the Thuisgras of Alaves.
Simeone has its last two visits to Mendizorrotza in Laliga, his losing streak in a road stadium in the competition.
Alaves and Eduardo Coudet have not been lost in their last two LABERA competitions (W1 D1), but have not put together any back-to-back competition wins since September 2024.
A physical team under Coudet, who took over from Luis Garcia in December, Alaves are two points free from Las Palmas in the 18th – the last relegation place.
“They are a brave Alaves side that have needs,” Simeone added. “We have them too and we want to take the game to where we think we can do some damage.”
With the transfer window that will be opened soon, Alex Baena van Villarreal was associated with a move to Atletico, but Simeone laughed when asked for his judgment about the player.
“You take me for a fool,” Simeone started.
“If I answer that he is playing spectacularly, that I love him, that he is important for the national team, you will say:” El Cholo (Simeone) wants him.
“If I say he is playing badly, you will say:” El Cholo doesn't like him. “He is of course a great football player!”
