Attacking midfielder Xavi Simons has permanently joined RB Leipzig After having spent 18 months on loan to Paris Saint-Germain.
Nederlands International has signed a contract to keep it at Leipzig until 2027.
German media reports said that the deal was worth more than € 50 million plus important add-ons.
“I have always emphasized that I feel very much at home in Leipzig and I am honored by the great appreciation I receive in the club,” Simons said in a statement.
Simons joined PSG in 2019 as a youth player in Barcelona.
He made his senior debut for the French club in 2021 and then moved to PSV the following year before he returned to PSG in 2023.
PSG sent Simons on loan to Leipzig shortly after his return. He scored eight goals and gave 11 assists in 32 games in his first season in the Bundesliga, and so far has four goals and three assists this period.
He has made 60 performances for Leipzig in all competitions, scored 15 goals and helps them to win the DFL-Supercup in 2023.
“We want to be eligible for the Champions League for the seventh time in a row and travel to Berlin for the DFB-Pokal final, that's all that matters now,” Simons added.
Leipzig will be confronted with Wolfsburg later this month in the Pokal Quarte finals and is currently fifth in the Bundesliga, behind the fourth place Stuttgart on target difference.
