Sir Alex Ferguson and Gary Neville join past and present Man United stars

Manchester United stars Beyond and present have been collected in the Cathedral of Manchester prior to the funeral service for club legend Denis Law prior to his funeral on Tuesday afternoon.

The legendary man United -boss Sir Alex Ferguson has arrived as the mourners, with 500 people who are expected to be present.

The law died at the age of 84 in January, after he made the Alzheimer's and vascular dementia diagnosis in August 2021.

He is the third highest goal scorer of all time behind Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton with 237 in 404 games, and the joint top scorer of Scotland with 30 goals of his 55 caps.

The law was part of the Holy Trinity of Man United with Charlton and George Best, who helped the club to the European Cup in 1968.

Best's son Calum was one of the people who came for the service.

Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe of minorities is not expected to be present, with Sir Dave Brailsford being present as an Ineos representative.

The Glazer family, the majority owners of Man United, is also expected to be absent as they were for Charlton's funeral at the same location in 2023.

It was said at the time that they stayed away from the service because they did not want to cause distraction.

Members of the public gathered on the street while the box of the law made its way to Old Trafford, where club staff will be one of those who pay their respect in a final farewell to the attacker known as' The King of the Stretford End '.

Law is the only person who is depicted in two articles of association in the stadium, one on the Stretford End competition and the others as part of the Trinity statue.

Man United has offered supporters the opportunity to leave messages and memories of the law through a condolence book during the hospitality reception at Old Trafford.

The club has also invited fans to make donations to two charities included in the order of service at the funeral, the Alzheimer's Society and the Denis Law Foundation.

The law won the European Cup, two English titles and the FA Cup in its 11 years at Old Trafford.

He received the Ballon d'Or in 1964, with Charlton and best next in 1966 and 1968.

Law is the only Scottish player who has received the honor.

Law was born in Aberdeen and started his career at Huddersfield Town, had two spells in Manchester City and also played in Italy for Torino.

Man United described the law as one of their 'largest and moving loved players' after his death last month.
