Slot comments on Liverpool transfers fly in face of FSG claims amid Isak pursuit

Liverpool spent nearly £ 300 million after an incredible summer of great editions, because the Reds want to make Alexander Isak their next lucrative addition – despite the criticism of the Club's tight wallet in recent years

Liverpool -Baas Arne Slot has made his position clear about the spending policy of the club and claims that the club “never hesitates” to splash the money, despite accusations that owners FSG have been careful with their money since they took over the club.

The Reds have a huge summer of expenditure while they are approaching £ 300 million after massive purchases, the newest was £ 79 million on Hugo Ekitike, who became a member after Liverpool had eliminated a British record costs of £ 116.5 million on Bayer Leversenspeelmaker Florian Wirtz. Those two deals alone show that FSG and the newly beaten Premier League champions mean business this summer.

Liverpool also brought full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez through the door and there could still be a transfer of big money in the midst of reports that they are willing to go all the way for the £ 150m rated Alexander Isak.

It seemed that Liverpool had signed Ekitike instead of Isak after he was informed that Newcastle would not sell their star striker. But with the player who informs his club that he wants to explore his options this summer, a mega money transfer could still happen.

These bumper spending Spree marks a big change in direction for FSG, which still cannot be accused of not bringing big names to Anfield, given the lucrative signing sessions of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson in the past.

There is a real opportunity for Liverpool to build on their Premier League title Triumph and create a dynasty in the top flight, although they only needed one new signing to pipper their rivals to the crown last year.

But Slot, who spoke Tour of Liverpool through Asia before the pre-season tour, said that their summer edition shows that they will spend money when the chance is there.

“I always say, another thing about Liverpool is that when we see a chance on the market, we never hesitate to bring someone in,” the Dutchman said.

“Ultimately it is about quality and we have already made some very good signing sessions. In terms of quality, we are already in the right place. I think this club has always worked that way. We will spend, but if we spend, we always have to earn some money back.

“It is what we already started last summer when we only brought in Federico Chiesa, but we sold three or four players, which meant a big profit. So if you balance things, we certainly spent, but we have also earned money back.”

The summer for the last time Liverpool Chiefs committed about £ 150 million in four signing sessions – Dominik Szoboszlai (£ 60 million), Alexis Mac Allister (£ 35 million), Ryan Gravenberch (£ 34 million) and Wataru Endo (£ 17), of which three the team have transformed.

In the 2022-23 campaign, they splash around £ 85 million on Darwin Nunez, while Cody Gakpo arrived in January for around £ 35 million, while Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate were the only major arrivals of the season before.

None of those campaigns have compared the enormous spending spower that Liverpool has shown this summer – the proof that FSG leaders are ready to support after their excellent title profit and to help him win even more silverware.

Fans of Liverpool have protested against their American owners – under the leadership of John W. Henry – in the past – a demonstration in a demonstration during a Champions League – similar play against Atalanta after ticket price increases.

The previous year fans flew a banner over Anfield during a collision against Tottenham who read “FSG Out” about a lack of investment when they were managed by Jurgen Klopp.

For now, Liverpool fans will not complain much, especially if their pursuit of Isak turns out to be successful.
