Liverpool received a free run when signing Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura after Eintracht Frankfurt considered him too expensive.
Amoura, 24, is currently on loan from the Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, but becomes a Wolfsburg player permanent for a four-year deal from 1 July. The Algerian sniper has scored nine goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga so far, so far, interested throughout Europe.
However, an unlikely destination is Frankfurt, as Sky Germany reports that Eintracht -leaders have been deterred by the tag of Amoura Price. The offers are expected to come between € 30 million and € 40 million (£ 25 million and £ 33 million) with concrete interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool belongs to the clubs that are linked to Amoura. Last month it was reported that the Reds had already been in contact with the player's camp about a move after he had witnessed his electric pace and an eye for Doel when he scored against them in December 2023. The Algeria International can also play as a winger, but it is like a striker in a two-man front line where he excited.
Arne Slot could be on the market for a new No. 9 in the midst of suggestions that Darwin Nunez will leave in the summer transfer window. NUNEZ, 25, was connected in January to a move to Saudi Arabia, where Al-Nassr claimed to have rejected two bids.
Liverpool was not willing to sell their signing of their club record without having a replacement, although Amoura may just be that. The 24-year-old has also been associated with Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen, but Liverpool would have been interested at Union SG since his time.
The Reds chose not to make a January signs sessions, so that their powder remained dry for the summer. Slot recently confirmed that the wheels are already running before the transfer window.
“We look at every position and we look at the team,” said the Liverpool last month. “We said this many times last summer, we didn't do much because we – Richard [Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director]Me and all other people involved – just wanted to know how these players worked with me, the different manager.
“Now we have a very good idea of that, and I think it is clear to you that I will not tell you what positions we prefer, but it is clear that we have assessed the team, we have assessed what we think we can improve, and that is where we try to go in the summer.”
