Slot reveals his favourite LIV performance so far after Champions League win

Arne Slot was happy to end Lille's 21-match unbeaten run but admitted another Liverpool win was his favourite.

The Reds claimed a 2–1 victory over their French opposition. Mo Salah's goal was canceled out by Jonathan David's goal, but ten-man Lille could not hold on.

Harvey Elliott's effort in the 67th minute proved enough to give Slot's side three points and retain their place at the top of the Champions League. The result secured Liverpool's place in the last 16 of the competition.

However, Slot thinks that there is still more to be achieved from his side. The Dutchman suggested that his team had two performances that stood out to him without reaching perfection.

“I think we can improve,” Slot said on Amazon Prime. “Probably like Pep's [Guardiola] team won, he would say they can improve. Perfection is not possible.

“We try every day. We'll probably never face 10 out of 10. West Ham away was a great performance. The competition you face or the team you face tells you that when we faced them, “They weren't at their best. City was the best game we've played so far.”

However, Slot is not playing on Liverpool's position at the top of the Champions League. The former Feyenoord boss does not think it is worthwhile to make up the score in the new competition format.

Slot, however, felt that the victory over Lille was worth being happy about. “We are happy to be in the top eight,” he said.

“These rankings don't tell you anything. Maybe number 24 is better than number 16, but the 16 had an easier draw. We want to be at the top, but we have to wait and see if it is an advantage.

“As a manager I am a little more impressed [with the performance] then the crowd or the people watching the TV. I knew they were unbeaten in 21 games, but they beat both Real and Atletico Madrid and they did it without the best players in the world, with the utmost respect. I wasn't happy with one chance and one goal conceded.

“The privilege of coaching Liverpool is that you have more than eleven good players. You know how tough this competition and the Premier League are and it is up to the players to be ready when they get an opportunity. [Harvey Elliott] The goal was a lucky goal, but his performance was good.”
