Arne Slot greeted the “immense character” that Liverpool has demonstrated during their Merseyside Derby victory on Everton.
The Reds hit 1-0 winners on Anfield, where Diogo Jota scored the only goal to restore their 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Everton crossed Stanley Park and protected an undefeated run of nine games in the competition, and the visitors carried the greater attacking threat in the first half, with Beto had excluded a goal for offside and hit the mail.
Liverpool, however, eventually came at the top and dominated large periods of the competition, including 73.8% of the possession, to seal their 100th victory over their local rivals.

“A very good manager brought them back to life; the amount of shots they blocked, the efforts they made to defend in their own box, and then the threat they had on the counterattack.

“But our boys showed a huge character. I think we made more than in the game, and in the end we scored a good goal and we held a clean magazine.”

Liverpool went through the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the international break of leaving the Champions League, before he lost Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final.
And Matchwinner Jota was happy with the reaction of the Reds to those setbacks.
“Solid [win]Naturally. Not only because it is a derby, but because of the international break, “he said.
“It was important to start with three points and hopefully that will give us momentum for the rest of the season.”
“[Everton] Make it very difficult for you, “added Captain Virgil van Dijk.” They have a certain way of playing and you have to be ready for all aspects. We stayed in the game and it is a well -deserved three points.
“Everyone wants to be in our position. Now we have to continue and keep the same mentality when we have done the entire season.”
