Liverpool -Baas Arne Slot spoke for the first time in the aftermath of a car that drops a crowd of people after the Premier League trophy parade on Monday evening.
The Reds celebrate their 20th top flight title when thousands of supporters took to the streets to get a glimpse of their heroes.
Shortly after the Parade was concluded, a car drove a group of people in Water Street around 6 p.m. in the center of Liverpool, leaving 65 injured.
The police confirmed on Tuesday evening that 11 fans were still being treated in the hospital after the incident, but that they 'seemed to recover well'. A 53-year-old white British man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving violations and driving while they are unsuitable with drugs.
Slot would attend the annual award ceremony of the League Managers Association (LMA), but chose not to be present after the Monday incident. However, the Dutchman did give a statement because he thanked the football community for collecting Liverpool in the light of the painful scenes.
'As you know, a shocking incident took place yesterday in Liverpool, an incident that left dozens of men, women and children who had attended our wounded, and as a result I had to withdraw from the event from solidarity with all affected.
'This is not a decision that I have made lightly, but it is one that I think is absolutely correct considering the seriousness of the situation. I hope I understand your understanding in this respect.
'I would like to use this opportunity to thank the wider football community, including the LMA itself, the Premier League and many clubs that will be represented tonight, for the support we have received over the past 24 hours. Football is and should always have been built on rivalry, but it is also a great source of comrading, especially like this.
'I also want to pay tribute to the emergency services and other authorities in Liverpool who came into action as soon as the incident took place.
“Together with the supporters and bystanders who helped each other in an hour of need, I think that everyone involved in the aftermath earns the gratitude of all of us.”
Slot won two big prizes because he was named Prime Minister League Manager of the Season and LMA manager of the year after Liverpool led to the title in his first season in Anfield.
Responding to winning two gongs, Slot added: 'I am humble to become Barclays Premier League manager of the season, so thanks to the Barclays & The Premier League Awards panel for selecting me.
'It goes without saying that I am really proud to be a member of the League Managers Association and that is why I am really honored to get the Sir Alex Ferguson trophy for the LMA manager of the year.
'To be voted by your management mates is so special, especially because I know the incredible quality of those who have won this prize before.
'Sir Alex, I look forward to meeting you at a later date to receive my trophy from you. I am also looking forward to attending my first LMA -annual Awards dinner on a future occasion. Thanks again for your understanding and your support. '
