Liverpool will be active in the summer transfer market and Arne Slot requires a number of signing sessions to determine the Reds as a force in European football that it has claimed
Arne Slot has been told that Liverpool should sign a goal scorer this summer, in addition to another three players. The Reds -Baas will lead this period to a Premier League title, but former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit believes that the team needs a number of reinforcements.
The Dutchman has seen limited action in the transfer market since arrival in Anfield, with only Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mhaldashvili, on loan at Valencia, have been signed. And ex-France International Petit thinks that Liverpool's lack of goals were exposed in advance in their Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain.
Slot has already suggested that the next transfer star will be busier with the club 'that will certainly work on strengthening in the summer'. Liverpool is already linked to stars, such as Alexander Isak from Newcastle and Milos Kerkez van Bournemouth.
Mohamed Salah has extended his stay in Anfield after 32 goals in this period, while Cody Gakpo has taken 16 goals and has chosen Luis Diaz 15 strikes. Darwin Nunez, however, is linked to a relocation in the forward attacker and only spotted seven times in 2024/25.
Petit would like to see Liverpool find a striker that can guarantee 30 goals and offer a number of reinforcements in defense and midfield. Thanks to the Slot team, a big step forward will take to compete for the Champions League.
A world -class striker would see that the Reds claim a murderous lead. “Liverpool has a strong team with many quality players, but if they want to reach the top again – especially in Europe – they have to strengthen in important areas,” Petit told William Hill Vegas.
“They have drawn quite a few strikers in recent years, but I still have the feeling that they miss that one world -class striker that can guarantee 30 goals per season. That kind of clinical attacker makes the difference when you reach the last phases of large competitions.
“They also have to strengthen defensively, especially in terms of squadrotation, and perhaps also add some depth in midfield. If they can bring in three or four top players, I believe that Liverpool will take a big step forward. We saw it against Paris Saint-Germain-er is quality, but perhaps not the murderous edge in front.”
