Slot weighs in on TAA’s future after Liverpool star appeared to drop a hint

Arne Slot insisted Trent Alexander-Arnold's goal celebration in Liverpool's 5-0 win over West Ham told fans everything they needed to know about his future amid interest from Real Madrid.

With just six months left on his Liverpool contract, speculation is rife that the 26-year-old will opt to seek pastures new when his contract expires.

Reports from Spain in recent days claimed that Alexander-Arnold had informed Liverpool that he planned to join Real Madrid this summer.

Alexander-Arnold is also said to have rejected offers from Liverpool for a new contract, saying he had 'no doubts' about his desire to join the European champions.

After Sunday's victory put Liverpool eight points ahead, Slot addressed the speculation surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.

'No, I don't think it's negative at all. He is playing very well,” he told Sky Sports, when asked if Alexander-Arnold's situation was more negative than that of Salah and Van Dijk.

'He scored a great goal and the way he celebrated his goal probably says it all.

'So I don't think I need to say much more about it. I am very happy with Trent, just as happy as with Mo and Virgil.

'So for me there is no difference. To the outside world, there may be more things happening around Trent in the media than with the other two, but I am happy with all three at the moment.'

Alexander-Arnold appeared to send a message to Liverpool fans with his goal celebration in the Reds' 5-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.

After scoring the fourth goal of the match, the England international appeared to dismiss recent speculation about his future.

After his deflected effort put Arne Slot's side 4-0 up, Alexander-Arnold ran to the traveling support at the London Stadium and made a chatter gesture with his hand.

Contract negotiations between Liverpool and the homegrown star have reportedly stalled in recent weeks.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold has remained somewhat coy about his future at Anfield, only stating that details of his contract situation will not be revealed publicly.

As for Liverpool's other two superstars, their contract situations also remain tentative.

Mail Sport previously reported that Liverpool have made initial contact with Salah over a new contract offer, but the Egyptian star does not appear close to reaching an agreement with the Reds over an extension of his time on Merseyside.

Earlier this month, Van Dijk was also offered a new contract, but there was reportedly no breakthrough in negotiations with the 33-year-old.
