Solskjaer targets player he coached at Man United as first signing with Besiktas

Besiktas are showing interest in Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence.

The 30-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals so far.

However, he has just six months left on his contract after failing to agree terms for a deal at Ibrox.

Lawrence is available for free this month, with Ipswich, Burnley and Sheffield United all monitoring the situation.

A move to Besiktas would reunite him with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was appointed as the side's new manager this week.

Solskjaer coached the Wales international between 2008 and 2011 when he was in charge of Manchester United's reserves.

Lawrence eventually left the Red Devils in 2104 to join Leicester, but made only four appearances for the Foxes.

Loan spells at Rotherham, Blackburn, Cardiff and Ipswich followed before he moved permanently to Derby in 2017.

The midfielder settled with the Rams, where he spent five years and scored 37 goals in 185 games.
