Kylian Mbappé (26) and Luka Modrić (39) will stand in line as opponents, not teammates, in the Stade de France tonight as France opposite Croatia in the second stage of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League. Mbappé has already made a big impression on the captain of Croatia. “On Kylian as a football player there is nothing left to say – he is one of the best players in the world,” Modrić started in an interview that was broadcast on Téléfoot on Sunday morning.
He continued: “He has so many skills and to be honest it is something that I have rarely seen.” In his career, Modrić played with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema.
“But what makes me the most impression on him is his personality. He is an incredible boy, very modest, always ready to make a joke, to help his teammates. He is calm,” Modrić added before he is tackling Mbappé's criticism, despite the Frenchman who nets more than 30 goals in his debut season with Real Madrid.
“Kylian, from the outside, you can say that it has not been his best season, but he still has more than 30 goals. Imagine that if he increases his level! Kylian is an incredible talent, one of the best I have seen, but I said, what makes me the most impression on him is his personality because he is really an incredible boy,” said Modrić.
