Ange Postecoglou's silk face Manchester United in the Europa League final on 21 May, with the winner Champions League qualification safeguarding for next season.

Spurs have not removed any form of silverware since winning the EFL Cup in 2008, while their last European success came through the UEFA Cup in 1984.

South Korea Star Son recognized the end of the 17-year-old trophy-dried of Spurs as one of the most important factors to stay in North London.

“We have been talking about this for years,” Son said, as quoted by the Guardian. “The biggest reason why I was staying in Tottenham was because I wanted to do something that others could not achieve.

“That is probably why I am where I am now. You need all the pieces to complete a puzzle. I think I have collected all the other pieces to complete that puzzle.

“I missed that most important, last piece and I have tried to find it in the last 10 years. I really hope that this time I can finally complete the puzzle.

“Every game is special and useful. But this game [against United] Feels like an opportunity that may not come back. This time it feels different.

“I really want to win, more than anyone. So many people support us with the same desperate passion that I feel. If we prepare well, I believe we can achieve it.”

Son has been close to silverware with Spurs, after he also lost the Champions League final to Liverpool in 2019 and suffering defeat against Manchester City in the EFL Cup final two years later.

The side of Postecoglou can struggle in the Premier League, where they are 17th after the boring 2-0 defeat on Sunday against London Rivals Crystal Palace, but they enjoyed this period from their European outings.

Tottenham won nine games this season in the Europa League (D3 L2), their most victories in the same campaign in large European competition.

Son was out that victory over Bodo/Glimt, who only returned to the bank for defeat against Palace after a one -month dismissal with a foot problem.

“I have to say that I am fine because I want our fans, as well as those who support me, feel comfortable while watching the game,” he added.

“So I will always say that I am doing well. And it will be fine.”
