Aston Villa jumped Chelsea in the fifth Champions League place with a 3-0 win over degraded Southampton.
The side of Unai Emery remained frustrated for a long period and seemed to forget an afternoon when Marco Asencio's penalty was saved by Aaron Ramsdale in the 69th minute.
But Villa eventually broke the impasse due to the beautiful strike of Ollie Watkins four minutes later.
Donyell Martin then doubled the management with a powerful strike in the 79th minute before John McGinn added a third in injury time.
