Spain goalkeeper Coll denies Hampton’s claim of throwing away shootout notes

The first-choice keeper of England, Hannah Hampton, went on the British radio station 'Talksport' to talk about the recent success of her team at the women's euros. And she told a curious where story that reported took place in the penalty shoot-out in the final against Spain.

Sarina Wiegman's side did not dominate during the final against Spain, but they managed to bring the game to punishments. Mariona Caldentey put the ruling world champions ahead before Alessia Russo equalized a fantastic pass by Chloe Kelly in the second half, before the game was on his way to Spot Kicks.

All eyes were now on the two keepers, both of whom were ready to be central. Both Hampton and Cata Coll excelled with various Saves, where the first found itself on the winning side.

Barca's keeper has in fact made two spectacular saves. According to her counterpart, however, she was at a disadvantage because she did not have the notes about where the players of England would place their shots.

“I threw her bottle at the English fans so she couldn't have it. She was confused and I wasn't trying to laugh,” Hampton told Talksport.

After the clip started to get some grip on social media, Coll offered its own version of events with an emphatic message that started with two smiling 'emojis': “Okay, okay, calmly calm down. At least if it was true …”.

Whatever the reality, both women made several impressive saves in the shootout, where Hampton and the Leeuwessen eventually come to the top.
