Real Madrid have been awaiting the verdict on Vinicius Junior's red card after last weekend's victory in Valencia, and it has now been passed on by the Spanish Football Association's disciplinary committee.
Vinicius was expected to be suspended for two matches and this has been confirmed by the Federation, according to Diario AS. However, it is not a sanction that is applied in all competitions, but only in La Liga.
So it means Vinicius will be available for Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, starting with Thursday's semi-final against Mallorca. If Carlo Ancelotti's side reach the final, where the 24-year-old scored a hat-trick last season, he could also face Athletic Club or Barcelona.
Instead, Vinicius will be missing from Real Madrid's next two league matches, which are against Las Palmas (home) and Real Valladolid (away). While that's a blow, there's no doubt that Los Blancos would have preferred it that way, as they should be able to win those games quite comfortably without their talisman.
