Spanish pop star responds to Real Madrid – ‘Why would we make something up?’

Spanish artist Lola Indigo has publicly responded to Real Madrid after they denied the Santiago Bernabeu stadium would host her concert next year. Indigo announced on Monday that the Bernabeu would be part of its tour on June 14, 2025.

Los Blancos have not yet been given permission to hold concerts again as they are working on soundproofing the stadium in consultation with the Madrid City Council, which may explain their distance from the concert. They released a statement on Monday denying that a concert had been organized and underlining the work still underway.

Indigo, who appeared on the popular talk show La Revuelta with David Broncano, was confused by their response.

“We have a date, and that's June 14th. They told us a date, we're not just going to make that up. We all work with a friendly community approach to do this without disturbing the neighbours. If there is a neighbor who wants to come to a concert, I invite you for free wherever you want to go,” Indigo noted.

She then provided more context on the issue, explaining that they cannot host concerts until the soundproofing is completed, but that she, for her part, has clear assurances that this will happen.

“Madrid has come out with a statement because the judicial process is very serious. The reality is that people don't read the statement, just the headline. What they are saying is that no concerts can take place until the noise is resolved.”

“It needs some work, until it's done it can't be done. To make the announcement, we asked them to send us the sound insulation project, that's why we made the announcement.”

Indigo is also friends with Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior.

“I have a relationship with Vinicius, for me he is the best in the world. I'm a Madrid fan because of Vini. He still knows less about these things than I do. He's never had a drink in his life.”

Real Madrid has faced a number of legal challenges over the noise pollution caused by concerts that took place last summer, and has been forced to stop taking measures against the noise. President Florentino Perez has downplayed the economic impact of this, but they have signed a number of lucrative contracts to use the facilities.
