Tottenham Hotspur skipper son Heung-Min said that Wednesday's Europa League final against Manchester United will be the biggest day of his life, since the North London club is preparing for a difficult season with a trophy.
Spurs dropped on Friday to a 2-0 defeat in Aston Villa, their 21st loss of the season, leaving them 17th in the Premier League on 38 points, just above the three parties that have already been relegated.
Far from fighting for a European berth through the competition, Spurs' only path to the Champions League of next season is by winning the second European competition against colleague Premier League thrusters United, who are 16th in the rankings.
“It is a very disappointing result and a very bad season,” said the Zuid -Korean, which recently returned to fitness after a short enchantment on the sidelines, on the BBC after the defeat of Spurs in Villa.
“But in the end we can win a trophy, that's what we are all looking for.”
A victory against United in the Spanish city of Bilbao would put an end to the 17-year-old trophy-dried of Spurs and the 32-year-old son handed his first piece of silverware after a decade in the club.
“Wednesday will be the biggest day of my life. It will be great. We will be enthusiastic and I hope we can write history,” Son said.
