Stacked UFC event featuring Israel Adesanya and Nate Diaz broke a five-way tie to set an unwanted record

On this day in 2021, the mixed martial arts leader organized the memorable UFC 263 Pay-per-View.

The event, which only marked the third since the return of the UFC to arenas for PPVs during the back of the pandemic, went in the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Two titles were at the top at the top of the line-up, where Israel Adesanya defended Marvin Vettori in the main event to defend his middleweight gold and forced Brandon Moreno to tap into their flight weight championship headliner.

From Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz to return for Belal Muhammad and Jamahal Hill, many other prominent matchups and names were offered at the event of 12 June.

And they came together to write history with a remarkable UFC record – and it was not positive.

UFC 263 had the most decisions for a single UFC event in history

Prior to UFC 263, five events were bound for most decisions during a single event in the history of the promotion. Those were UFC 169, UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Mousasi, UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Bisping, UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Tybura and UFC Fight Night: DOS Anjos vs. Edwards.

The event on June 12, 2021 broke that draw with a colossal 11 decisions on the 14-Fight map. The record was later bound by UFC Fight Night: Vieira vs. Tate in November 2021.

Among those to walk away with victories on the score cards were Adesanya, Edwards, Belal Muhammad, Brad Riddell and Movsar Evloev.

And the decision stable was not the only record that UFC 263 broke. The event also set a new record for duration, with its 3:19:32 from Vecht at the top of the charts.

However, those unwanted plates did not mean that the entertainment event was missing.

Before Moreno was enthusiastic in his title against FigueIredo, the map Terrance McKinney saw a better record breaking when he recording the fastest finish and knockout in UFC light weight history by sitting Matt Frefla in just seven seconds.

And not to mention the memorable clash of five laps between Edwards and Diaz, who saw the crowd on their feet after the Stockton star came close to an incredible comeback in the final round.

UFC 263 included one of the most gruesome entry movements ever

Another man who did what he could to prevent UFC 263 from entering the history books for the wrong reasons was Paul Craig, who needed a short time to put an end to his fight.

'Bearjew' opened the PPV head card against the then Future Champion Jamahal Hill. The Scottish hunter needed less than two minutes to finish the game brutally.

Craig disrupted Hill's elbow with an arm bar, but the injury initially remained unnoticed by the referee.

The experienced competitor eventually had to release the broad and thrusts at his painful rival until the TKO breaks arrived.

Craig will be looking for a similar result in his return to the Light Heavyweight Division during the UFC Fight Night event in Atlanta on June 14, 2025.
