Steven Gerrard leaves Al-Ettifaq

Steven Gerrard officially left the Saudi Pro League side Al-Intifaq after 18 months.

The 44-year-old asked to leave earlier this week in the midst of the constant struggles of the club in the Saudi Pro League.

His departure has now been confirmed by the officials of Al -tifaq.

An explanation was: “Ettifaq Football Club and Steven Gerrard today mutually agreed to the sub -company.

“The decision follows an amicable conclusion to the relationship with the manager.”

Gerrard discussed his exit and said: “I want to express my gratitude to the club, the players, the fans and everyone involved for the chance and support during my time here, especially the president, Mr Samer, CEO Mr Hamad and the Head of the Football Committee Mr.

“I express my thanks for Mr Samer and Mr. Hatim from the first day that I was warmly welcomed, and I enjoyed the opportunity to work with a different culture in a new country.

“So in general I learned a lot and it has been a positive experience personal and also for my family.

“But football is unpredictable and sometimes things don't go the way we want.

“However, I leave with great respect for the club and the country.

“I have no doubt that the work that is done will bring success in the future, and I wish the team the very best for the rest of the season.”

Gerrard was appointed al -tifaq head coach in July 2023 and received a new contract only six months later.

During his time at the club he achieved 19 victories, 16 draws and suffered 20 defeats in 55 games.

Prior to his time in Saudi Arabia, Gerrard spent 11 months in the lead on Aston Villa in the Premier League.

And before that he enjoyed a successful stint with Rangers in Scotland.
