Harry Kane and Luis Diaz were on goal when Bayern Munich registered a comfortable 2-1 victory over Stuttgart to claim the German Super Cup title.
Match report
Bayern Munich won the German Super Cup on Saturday evening, while defeating Stuttgart 2-1.
Vincent Kompany Field Luis Diaz on the left flank while the former Liverpool star made his competitive debut for Bayern, since he completed his £ 75 million (£ 66 million/$ 88 million) earlier this summer from Anfield.
The German champions made a fiery start and took the lead in the 18th minute through the strike of Harry Kane. Leon Goretzka initiated the move in the Stuttgart and half when he found Michael Olise with a pass. The former Crystal Palace –man took a quick touch before sending a ball in Kane's direction. Luca Jaquez managed to initiate the ball initially, but his heavy touch in the box led Kane to lead the English striker to find the back of the net with a first attempt.
Bayern created a few more goals in the first half in the first half, but Stuttgart defended resilient and stopped the giants to expand their lead before the break.
Only 12 minutes in the second half Kane took a yellow card for a rough challenge while stamping on the foot of the opposition, trying to win the ball. Just beyond the hourly mark, Olise had a golden chance to score his team's second goal when he tried a header from a very close by the cross of Serge Gnabry, but the Frenchman's attempt was about the bar.
Stuttgart had their best chance to be the same in the 74th minute when Jamie Leweling tried a shot on goal from a long distance. The Pile Driver of Leweling took a deflection from Dayot Upamecano and surprised Manuel Neuer a bit, but the experienced goalkeeper pulled a brilliant salvation while he parried the ball over the bar.
Shortly after Neuer's brilliant Save, Diaz opened his account as a Bayern player when the former Reds star scored from Serge Gnabry's inch-Perfect cross in the 74th minute. The Colombian brought a moving tribute to his former teammate Diogo Jota by striving for his 'gamer' celebration.
Leweling finally got his name on the score sheet in the injury time while he led the ball in the net to retire one in front of his side. Bayern, however, eventually ruled Supreme when Neuer won his eighth German Super Cup title, similar to the record of former teammate Thomas Muller.
