The doctor is inside. UFC newcomer Martinez could not have delivered any surgical performance than in his debut.
It was a home game in UFC Mexico City for the Coyoacán-Native, a 11-1 Bantamweight and former champion in Combate Global, where he once won three fights, just a few hours apart.
Outside the Achthoek, Martinez works like an orthopedic surgeon, UFC commentator Jon Anik acquaints how vigilant his eyes are when it comes to MMA.
Fighting on the same card as Countryman Brandon Moreno, David Martinez entered his first UFC match as a -550 gambling favorite against Saimon Oliveira in Brazil. And man, he looked.
A productive finisher with a serious knockout power, it would not be long before 'The Black Spartan' finds the kill shot.

David Martinez explains opponent in Mexico City
Martinez started throwing legs in round early. Martinez set up his stairs well and hit Oliveira from the outside. Oliveira landed clean once, but not that it was bothering Martinez.
Martinez continued to stalk Oliveira on the feet and earned his respect with the heat he put on his punches. Oliveira ate more stairs in the stand-up.
For four minutes in the round, Oliveira entered a left hand when Martinez timed a beautiful right hand to rock the Brazilian.
Martinez chased the finish with a left corner and then a knee to hit Oliveira.
Martinez roamed Oliveira on the floor and pummed away with hammerfists for the finish.
David Martinez's double life as a surgeon
As we said before, when he does not turn his opponents in the cage, David Martinez works as an orthopedic surgeon.
“It is difficult to balance both careers,” Martinez told MMA Knockout.
“They both take up a lot of my time, but with discipline and the reworking of your schedule, you can do what you are on.”
