Swansea City 1-2 Sheffield United: Rhian Brewster and Harrison Burrows score in Blades comeback win

Sheffield United took control of the Sky Bet Championship with a 2-1 comeback win over 10-man Swansea.

The Blades put together a blunt first 45 minutes and fell behind to Florian Bianchini's early goal.

But boss Chris Wilder made a triple substitution at half-time and his bold move was rewarded when Rhian Brewster and Harrison Burrows' penalty left Sheffield United two points ahead of Leeds at the top of the league.

Leeds return to top spot on Wednesday by beating Norwich at home.

Swansea faced an uphill battle when, moments after Brewster's equalizer at the start of the second half, Harry Darling collided with the striker with excessive force and was shown a straight red card.

There was an immediate sense of openness to proceedings as Swansea's Liam Cullen shot straight at Michael Cooper and Gustavo Hamer sent ripples into the side netting at the other end.

Swansea led after seven minutes after Darling charged forward from the back and made a touchline error.

Matt Grimes converted a free-kick that Ben Cabango met powerfully and Cooper showed good reflexes to push out.

But Bianchini was in the right place to nod home the rebound and end a 13-game winless run with his third goal in Swansea.

Swansea's early intensity was the opposite of their timid derby display, which saw them lose 3-0 in Cardiff, and when Josh Tymon tested Cooper they had made more attempts on goal in thirteen minutes than in 90 minutes on Saturday.

The Blades had little threat, apart from a Jack Robinson header that went over the crossbar, and were fortunate to avoid disaster after 32 minutes.

Myles Peart-Harris broke into the penalty area and appeared to be obstructed by Rhys Norrington-Davies, after the Wales defender had earlier been cautioned for dragging the same player down.

Had Peart-Harris gone to ground it might well have been a penalty and a red card for Norrington-Davies, but the Swansea striker stayed on his feet and the chances begged off.

The half ended as it began: Cullen and Hamer failed to take any risks and the Blades were dealt a blow when the prominent Peart-Harris was felled again.

Hamer picked up his tenth booking of the season as the attack now sits out games against Hull and Derby.

United equalized within two minutes of the restart when Femi Seriki – introduced at half-time alongside Sam McCallum and Tyrese Campbell – set up Brewster for a fine finish from twelve yards against the club where he had a successful loan spell five years ago.

Darling saw red for his agricultural challenge on Brewster three minutes later and McCallum fired over before the winner arrived midway through the second half.

Josh Key, who moved to centre-half in Darling's absence, lost the flight of Hamer's long ball and got over Campbell.

Burrows stepped up to score his second penalty in as many games and condemn Swansea to a fourth defeat in five games.
