TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD has reportedly told Liverpool he wants to leave for Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old full-back is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season.
Alexander-Arnold is free to talk to other clubs from January 1.
And according to the Spanish newspaper Marca, he has set his sights on Real Madrid.
Liverpool have made several attempts to extend Alexander-Arnold's contract.
But the England international has now reportedly made it clear he is keen to leave Anfield.
Reds bosses will now have to decide whether to keep Alexander-Arnold until the end of the season before losing him on a free transfer.
Or that they want to make money next month to at least get something for their homegrown star.
Real Madrid are said to be relaxed about the situation; willing to wait until the end of the season, but also open to a competitive price in January.
They have completed similar free transfer deals in recent years with the likes of David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and most recently Kylian Mbappe.
Alexander-Arnold is good friends with England teammate and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham.
It is claimed that he learned everything about life in Madrid through the midfielder.
Alexander-Arnold has made 332 appearances for Liverpool since his debut in 2016.
With his boyhood club he has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups and a Club World Cup.
Liverpool are six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.
Should he stay until the end of the season, Alexander-Arnold could sign off with another Prem title.
Real Madrid are looking for a long-term replacement for stalwart Dani Caravajal.
The 32-year-old suffered a season-ending knee injury in October.
In addition to Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk also have their contracts expiring at the end of the season.
From January 1, the duo will also be allowed to talk freely with other clubs.
