Liverpool could revive Martin Zubimendi offer with Premier League rivals linked
Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal could compete for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi in January.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Zubimendi ahead of the 2024/25 season, with a much-discussed attempt to bring him to Merseyside.
However, despite their efforts, Zubimendi opted to leave his boyhood club, while Liverpool turned to other options.
After a strong start to the season, Arne Slot had previously hinted that the door was closed on Zubimendi at Anfield after it was confirmed they had failed to sign him.
However, according to reports from Teamtalk.com, that interest could be revived in early 2025 if Slot was pragmatic about his selection options.
Zubimendi's €60m remains – which Liverpool were previously willing to pay – and a move for him still has support within the Liverpool ownership.
The biggest stumbling block could come from interest from rivals Arsenal, who pursued the 25-year-old in early 2024 but instead signed his former La Real teammate Mikel Merino in August.
Both clubs can pay his release clause and offer lucrative salaries, but the final decision will once again come down to Zubimendi.
