Ex-EPL striker scores STUNNING brace to rescue last-gasp point for Plymouth
A forgotten Premier League striker scored a stunning brace to earn Wayne Rooney's Plymouth a 2-2 draw against Watford on Friday evening.
Plymouth went into Friday evening 18th in the Championship table and just one point behind the relegation zone.
And they got off to the worst possible start when Vakoun Issouf Bayo put Watford ahead from close range after just eight minutes.
The Pilgrims leveled in the 23rd minute thanks to former Hornets striker Andre Gray's superb volley.
Defender Lewis Gibson played a long ball and Gray watched the ball all the time before finding the bottom corner for the first time against his old club.
Rooney's team fell behind again four minutes before halftime through Ryan Porteous.
Plymouth looked set for an eighth defeat of the season until Gray found the top corner for his second goal of the match in the 96th minute.
They were the 33-year-old's second and third championship goals of the season after returning to England this summer.
Gray left QPR after scoring 10 goals in 28 in the 2021-2022 season to join Greek side Arid.
He then signed for Saudi Pro League club Al-Riyadh and scored seven goals in 26 games before joining Plymouth.
Gray is known for his time in the Premier League at Watford, where he scored fourteen goals in 83 top-flight games, including nine for Burnley.
