Barcelona star standing firm amid club’s desire to sell in 2025
In the past seven days it has been reported that Barcelona are preparing to sell Andreas Christensen before the end of next summer's transfer window. The Danish defender has fallen down the pecking order in recent months due to a nasty Achilles tendon injury that ultimately required two operations to repair.
Christensen is out of contract in 2026, so given that he only has a year left on his current deal next summer, Barcelona are expected to listen to offers as early as January. However, Sport reports that the 28-year-old is not considering a departure at this stage as his wish is to remain in Catalonia.
Christensen is not expected to be a starter when he returns to action in January, and if he were to remain so for the remainder of the season, that could weaken his resolve. Should that happen, it wouldn't be a surprise if he eventually left Barcelona, especially as interest has been reported from a number of Premier League clubs.
