Kane nets 7th Bayern hat-trick to become the fastest to reach 50Bundesliga goals
Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in Bayern Munich's 3-0 win over Augsburg, breaking Erling Haaland's Bundesliga record for the fastest player to score 50 goals in the Bundesliga.
The England captain's seventh treble since his move to Germany – which took him to 14 league goals for the season – not only extended Bayern's lead at the top to eight points, but also saw him break Haaland's previous record.
Kane brought up his half-century in 43 league matches, seven quicker than Haaland for Borussia Dortmund.
They conceded two penalties in the second half, in his usual clinical fashion, before taking the match ball at the death, when an outrageous bit of control from Leon Goretzka's cross allowed him to head home into an empty net.
Kane now has 61 goals in 61 appearances in all competitions for Bayern, and remains on course to win the first trophy of his career with the German giants this season.
His latest record comes just over a week after he was left out of England's starting XI by Lee Carsley for the Three Lions' Nations League match against Greece.
His replacement, Ollie Watkins, scored England to make it 3–0, with Kane coming off the bench in the second half.
He was restored to the starting line-up on Sunday and scored a penalty as England beat Ireland 5-0 at Wembley to gain promotion to the top tier of the Nations League.
But former England and Manchester United star Paul Scholes expressed concern over Kane's place in the national team and suggested Carsley's exclusion marked the 'beginning of the end' of his England career.
Kane has insisted that the 2026 World Cup will not be his last chance to win a major tournament with England, and that his club form is going from strength to strength.
He will be back in action next Tuesday when Bayern hosts PSG in a big Champions League match.
Bayern have taken six points from their opening four European games and still have work to do to secure their place in the knockout stages.
