Manchester City to have clarity on Pep Guardiola decision before the end of 2024
Manchester City will go through a period of change this summer, with the departure of sporting director Txiki Begiristain and the arrival of Hugo Viana. The big question is whether it will be an earth-shattering move, now that Pep Guardiola's departure is still on the table.
Now in his ninth season at the helm at the Etihad, Guardiola's contract expires next summer and there is still no clarity on what he will do after winning everything with City. However, Relevo says City expect to know what its decision will be on Boxing Day, December 26. She and Viana hope to get some clarity to plan the coming season, now that Ilkay Gundogan is out of contract and big deals like Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Ederson or Kyle Walker need to be discussed.
Guardiola has stayed at City longer than anyone expected, and they have shaped the club to his needs and desires over the past decade. On the one hand, he has nothing left to achieve with City, but on the other hand, he is unlikely to find a better setup to do his job. It has been suggested he could take over a national team, although the England job has now been filled by Thomas Tuchel.
