Barcelona plan Wojciech Szczesny extension talks
Barcelona are ready to offer Wojciech Szczesny a contract extension after the end of the 2024/25 season.
La Blaugrana made a bold move by signing the Polish veteran after a season-ending injury to number 1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Despite Barcelona's positivity over Ter Stegen potentially being ahead of schedule in his recovery, there will be no risks taken with Szczesny in place.
Szczesny has been working on his fitness during the November international match as he has not featured since joining Barcelona.
Ter Stegen's deputy Inaki Pena has remained Hansi Flick's choice to step between the posts, but Szczesny is making a positive impression in training.
According to reports from Marca, the club are happy to offer the 34-year-old a further 12 months to extend his contract until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Flick is confident Ter Stegen will return at full strength, but wants to keep three senior goalkeepers in his ranks, while a decision on an extension beyond 2026 for Pena has yet to be made.
