Jake Paul Exposes Mike Tyson’s Decline
Mike Tyson looked like a horrible, miserable caricature of the fighter he once was, losing to a YouTuber boxer, Jake Paul, on Friday night by an eight-round wide unanimous decision in a problem-riddled broadcast on Netflix. Fans were outraged by the video continuously being released, and things got even worse when the Tyson vs. Paul fight started.
Tyson battled injuries
After the fight, Tyson said he was struggling with injuries, but added: “I don't want to make excuses.” What is he talking about? The mere mention of Tyson having injury problems was him making an excuse.
The fight showed how little 58-year-old Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) had left. He was staggered in the third round by three left hooks from Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) and struggled in the remaining five rounds. .
Round eight was the icing on the cake of a miserable evening for fans. Neither fighter did anything as the unhappy crowd of more than 72,000 booed at AT& Stadium in Arlington.
Tyson looked like a dinosaur
The scores for the mismatch were 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73, all for 27-year-old Jake, who had too much youth for 60-year-old Tyson. It wasn't that Jake was great. It was more of a case where Tyson was as old as the extinct dinosaurs, and that's where he should be. He doesn't belong in a ring. The way Tyson looked, he should be in a nursing home.
Tyson had trouble moving around the ring with his old, tired legs and looked exhausted in the championship rounds between six and eight. The weird thing is that Jake didn't even fight hard, and yet Tyson looked like he had been through a 15-round fight for the ages. He was so tired that the fight should have been stopped.
Paul looked like he was lightening up his punches and deliberately not going after Tyson after hurting him in the third. All it would have taken was a short 10-second burst from Jake, and he would have knocked out Tyson.
“I tried to hurt him,” Jake said after the fight.
What was interesting is that Mike hinted that he would return to the fight to fight again, mentioning Jake's brother, Logan Paul. A fight between them wouldn't sell after tonight's train wreck.
Netflix streams crashed
Fans were angry and complained at tonight's Tyson-Paul event about Netflix streams freezing, preventing them from watching the action without constant interruptions.
If Netflix continues to box in the future, they will have to solve the release issue so that fans will want to order their events.
