Rival fans are already fearing the worst as Pep Guardiola agrees new deal that could keep him at Man City until 2027

Rival fans already fear Manchester City's dominance will continue for years to come, following reports that Pep Guardiola has agreed to sign a contract extension with the Premier League champions.

Guardiola's current contract expires at the end of the season and there is speculation that the Spanish manager could leave the Etihad next summer.

But according to The Athletic, Guardiola is now ready to sign a new one-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, meaning he could stay at City until 2027.

An official announcement is expected this week, with Guardiola set to extend his stay at City to ten years and possibly longer.

City have won the last four Premier League titles and their rivals are already concerned that Guardiola can lead his side to two more titles in the coming seasons.

One fan account on X: 'Pep Guardiola will stay at Manchester City for another year. This could be six Premier League titles in a row.'

Arsenal have finished second to City in each of the past two seasons, with Mikel Arteta calling on the club's fans to remain patient and trust the process.

But some believe the long wait for a league title, dating back to 2004, may continue until Guardiola moves on.

“The process officially starts in the 2026/27 season, talk soon,” one Arsenal fan wrote on X.

Guardiola won six league titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups and the Champions League during a golden spell at City.

One fan has suggested that Guardiola is only sticking around to cause more misery for City's rivals.

'Pep Guardiola extends his contract, what more could this man want?' they asked.

City fans, on the other hand, are ecstatic following the news, with one supporter claiming Guardiola's stay is 'bigger than winning any trophy'.

This will be the third time that Guardiola has signed a contract extension with City in November.

On the previous two occasions in 2020 and 2022 respectively, City won the title later that season on both occasions.

In fact, his previous contract extension two years ago saw an upturn in form that led to City winning an unprecedented Treble that season.

This time City have work to do after losing their last four games in all competitions.

Their slump ahead of the international break leaves them five points behind league leaders Liverpool, but Guardiola's decision to stay put could be the boost his players need to find extra equipment as they move on look for more silverware.
