And those skills came in handy when a gang threatened to rob him.
On an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said, “I was walking down the street and I saw these kids and they were street kids. One said, 'Hey man, can I borrow some money?' I thought, 'I have no money.'
“He says, 'Come on, man; I know you got some damn money.” I say, 'No, I don't have any money.' He says, 'Man, I'll just take your money.' I said, 'Okay.'
“I kept walking, he says, 'Where the hell are you going?' I arrived at the door of the taekwondo academy where I taught.
“I say, 'I'm going here to teach.' Would you like to come up'? We looked at each other and he said, 'You teach?' I say: 'Yes'. Then he understood why I was so confident.
“I was trying to figure out, 'Do I kick this guy's head off his shoulders?' By then I had knocked out a bunch of people, I knew how to do it.
